Outdoorsy Women Who Inspire Us
At Amble, we’re all about celebrating women in the outdoors, the ones that go on big adventures and the ones that adventure locally. From the solo hikers, to the group kayakers, the women who bikepack, and the ones who climb, we’re constantly inspired.
We admire those who are confident and self-sufficient in the wild, and we equally admire those who find the outdoors intimidating, but excel in other environments. Everyone's relationship with the outdoors is different, and that’s a beautiful thing. We celebrate all types of outdoor recreation everyday, but this International Women’s Day we’re celebrating some of our favourite women in the outdoors.
Steph (@stephdevery) is someone we are in awe of, she’s just completed a solo bikepacking trip from Sweden all the way to the bottom of South Africa, covering 21,500km across 40 countries, raising money for @doctorswithoutborders along the way.
Lucy of @tanglesandtail was the first woman to walk the entire length of South America, and is currently well on her way to be the first to hike the length of the world, all the way from Argentina to Alaska, along with her beloved dog Wombat.
Kate (@katealice) is a passionate bikepacker and thruhiker and all round friendly & welcoming human being. She spends most of her free time exploring her backyard in Kosciuszko National Park and surrounds, and documents it for @weareexplorers. She also hosts community bike rides, helping intro people to bikepacking which we love.
Cath (@cath.wallis) is self described as ‘living life big in the body that she has’ and exploring the world one endurance event at a time. She has just completed the Mongol 100 - a 100 mile traverse across a frozen Mongolian lake by any means, foot, skate or bike!
Business owner, endurance athlete and mother, Sam (@samanthagash) is the founder of @hertrails, a global female adventure platform with a focus on trail running, outdoor exploration, mindset development, and holistic well-being.
Tish (@tishfish_) is a proud Kulkalaig woman from the Island of Masig, Kulkalgal Nation of Zenadth Kes. She studies Ocean Science, became a climate change advocate after seeing the effects on her home in the Torres Strait islands, was involved in the UN COP26 Climate Talks and so much more…basically an all round powerhouse.
Elise (@elisemarcianti) is an avid adventurer who moves her body to benefit her mind. She recently embarked on a 300km trek in the Aussie Alps, to raise awareness and funds for Eating Disorders Families Australia.
Mae-Gene (@thewanderingsuitcase) is a close friend of ours, and we love her friendly, educational, and vulnerable approach to the outdoors space, helping encourage everyone to get outdoors, even if you don’t have any prior experience with hiking or camping.
